Description
Support Worker – Herne Bay – Excellent renumeration package.

Our client is an established Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding’ registered Children’s home accommodating children with learning difficulties and associated Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.

They are currently recruiting a Specialist Support Worker to work in a small team to support a young person who has been living with our client for over three years.  This will be a very challenging but also very rewarding role for individuals who are highly experienced, skilled and enjoy working directly with young people with these complex and unique needs.

Your role will involve working closely as a team providing a high level of support and assisting the individual in all aspects of their day to day life.  This will include personal care, transporting to and from activities and appointments and supporting engagement in education and life skills.  Due to their challenging behaviour, you will need to be confident in undertaking physical intervention and administering medication for which you will receive full and regular training.

It is essential that you have experience and understanding in the following;

  • *Experience of working with learning difficulties including ASD
  •  
  • *Knowledge of alternative communication interventions such as PECS and Makaton
  •  
  • *Ability to provide personal care
  •  
  • *Level 3 diploma in children’s residential care or equivalent qualification in related field or willing to complete this qualification.
  •  
  • *Understanding of complex needs including mental health needs
  •  
  • *Ability to undertake sleep in duties
  •  
  • *Experience of managing complex and challenging behaviours
  •  
  • *Ability to interpret care plans and work within the organisation’s policies and procedures
  •  
  • *Full driving licence (manual)
  •  
A competitive salary package of up to £27,200 per annum which includes a minimum of 5 sleep in duties per month is offered along with a generous package of annual leave, training and development.
