Commissioning Engineer – Industrial Steam Boilers
Location: Ideally based in the North West, Midlands, or North East UK
Salary: £49,000 basic | OTE £70,000–£75,000+ (including overtime, weekends, travel, and overnight stays)We’re partnering with one of the UK’s most respected manufacturers of industrial boiler systems to find a skilled, motivated Commissioning Engineer who thrives on technical challenges, enjoys being on the move, and knows how to bring powerful systems to life. What You’ll Be Doing
As a Commissioning Engineer (or Commercial Gas Engineer), you'll take charge of commissioning large, high-performance steam boiler systems at industrial sites across the UK. Your work will include:
Leading commissioning activities on-site for complex steam boiler installations
Collaborating with project managers and contractors to deliver successful, on-time handovers
Testing, fault-finding, and calibrating systems using advanced diagnostic tools and control software
Providing technical support post-commissioning, helping clients resolve issues and fine-tune performance
Regular UK travel, with all expenses covered — including accommodation, travel, and meals
What We’re Looking For
A background in commissioning industrial boilers, plant equipment, or large mechanical/electrical systems
Relevant qualifications: HNC/HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, plus commercial gas ACS (COCN1)
Strong problem-solving skills and confidence working with diagnostic and control systems
A clear communicator who can work well with clients and colleagues alike
Willingness to travel, stay away overnight, and occasionally work weekends
